Hello! Welcome to “Fishing with John”, the best figure drawing blog not about fishing.
As I originally stated, I am not much of a writer, however my last couple posts on here involved a lot more writing than I expected and I think that intimidated me from consistently posting. However, I have been drawing and have a good number sketches drawings, and paintings to share. So here’s a little recap of my work over the summer:

Although it produced some decent sketches, the above zoom session did not have the kind of vibe or atmosphere I’m looking for in a figure drawing session. This spurred me on to check out a local open model group. I didn’t realize how much I was missing, local in person, drawing! Drawing from your eyeballs instead of a screen is a very different experience, and drawing beside other locals is great for networking, too.

Well, that was a lot of drawings! References from this post come from, Croquis Café, Straky Hutch, Lilian D’Mello, Maureen Lucas-Saoudi, The Model Society, and Savannah Open Model.
That’s it for now. I’m going to try to not be so long in between posts. To help with that I’m probably going to show more and tell less. There is plenty of figured drawing newsletters out there that have too many words, and not enough drawings, and I don’t want this to be one of them.
Until then, keep fishing!
